Finalist for 2019 B&LLA Licensing Awards and Winner of the Cultural Enterprise Award 2020. This stunning monochrome bouquet is inspired by the famous painting 'A girl at a Window' which is of a girl in a white dress and bonet sitting on a stone window ledge. The picture was painted almost entirely in tones of black, grey and white which is intended to look like a monochrome print. Boily's artistry skills were showed off in this oil painting with the diverse range of materials and surfaces. When exhibited at The Salon of 1799, A Girl at a Window was praised for being 'true to life'. We have included Avalanche roses and black calla lilies to illustrate the monochrome effect and to highlight the superb black chalk rendition of the portrait. We have used white British Stocks to highlight the open window and lighter shades delicately articulated in the painting. Finally, the use of chrome wire signifies the broken aging of the painting and the imitation of engravement, "grisaille" that overtures the painting.
