A day out with a difference, forging your own bottle opener at the Oldfield Forge Academy, then onto Hillside Brewery for a Tour & Tasting. Forge your own bottle opener using the ancient techniques of blacksmithing here at the Oldfield Forge Academy, then go to either Hillside Brewery or Weston Cider to enjoy a tour of the brewery or mill followed by a tasting session. This package makes an ideal gift for Fathers Day, Birthdays, Group bookings any special occasion or just a great excuse to get together with friends! Cider tasting is available 7 days a week. Beer tasting is available on limited tour dates. Join us at The Oldfield Forge Acadmey and learn the ancient techniques of Blacksmithing. Under the guidence of one of our talented Blacksmiths use your new found skills to forge your very own bespoke bottle opener to take with you. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Your experience is a one off and can be held on any day subject to availability. For health and safety reasons, please wear closed-toe shoes. Aprons and all materials are provided. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult. Parking is available at our premises. We welcome groups of all sizes and abilities. After your time in the Academy there will be a chance for you to enjoy your own picnic lunch in the Oldfield Woods (or in our Shepherd or Scandinavian Huts) with it's own woodburner if the weather is less than desirable). After lunch you will head to your choosen Tour & Tasting at Hilllside Brewery in Longhope or Weston Cider at Ledbury, Herefordshire. At Hillside brewery you can see, touch, smell & experience the brewing process up close. They will run through all of the ingredients used to produce their award winning beers, then look around the brewery to see how they relate to the brewing process. Everything at the Brewery is done in house so you will get to see how it gets from the fermenters all the way into the bottle. Of course this is followed by a tasting session of their classic ales. Available on certain days of the week. If you wish to visit Weston Cider you can learn and discover the craft of cider-making from blossom to bottle. We'll show you everything -with an expert guide leading the way. See where we harvest, weigh and wash apples. Venture into the heart of the mill where we press, ferment and mature before blending and packing. See all we do, why and how - and hear a little bit of home-spun history, too.
